Bangalore: The Karnataka Government Wednesday ordered CID probe into alleged illegal encroachment of about 2,000 acres around the Chamundi hills in Mysore.
Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar directed the Crime Investigation Department to investigate the matter and submit a report, official sources said.
Minister for Medical Education S A Ramdas, also minister in-charge of Mysore district,welcomed the government decision.
G Madhusudhan, BJP MLC had last week alleged that Ramdas was eyeing encroaching about 400 acres of 2,000 acres land, which promoted the minister to seek a probe-- judicial, CID or CBI probe into the allegations.
Ramdas had written to the chief minister in this regard on November 25.
Earlier the government had rejected an order by the previous Deputy Commissioner declaring that the 2,000 acres did not belong to government, which had been encroached by several people.
