Cong panel to look into fund misuse charge

Karnataka unit of Congress today said it has constituted an enquiry committee to look into allegations of misuse of funds collected from donors to help last year`s flood victims.

KPCC chief R V Deshpande said he would send a report to
the party high command on the issue, which has been raised by
the ruling BJP and opposition JDS.

"I have appointed justice (rtd) N Y Hanumanthappa, former
MP, to enquire into the allegations", Deshpande, who is at the
centre of the controversy, told reporters here.

Deshpande, a former industries minister, has rejected
allegations of misuse of the funds but admitted there was
"misapplication of funds".
