Chikkaballapura: One person was on Monday
arrested and large amount of detonators, explosives and
substances used for making explosives were seized from his
vehicle in Chikkaballapura district on Monday, police said.
Sheikh Aftab Pasha (24) was nabbed while driving his jeep
on the Madanapally-Chintamani road and 193 gelatin sticks, 800
detonators, 100 kg of gun powder and 150 kg of ammonium
nitrate were recovered from his vehicle, ASP B Ramesh said.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team waylaid the jeep and
nabbed the accused near Madikere cross while proceeding from
Madanapally to Chintamani, he said.
During interrogation, Pasha said he was transporting the
explosives for a purchaser in Chintamani taluk.
"We have already dispatched a team to the said place to
find out who is actually the purchaser, if there is any,"
Ramesh said.
Pasha will be produced before a local magistrate later
today.
