DMK President M Karunanidhi on Monday welcomed Karnataka government's decision to appeal against the acquittal of his arch rival and Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa in the disproportionate assets case, saying he supports anyone who 'comes forward to uphold justice.'

Chennai: DMK President M Karunanidhi on Monday welcomed Karnataka government's decision to appeal against the acquittal of his arch rival and Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa in the disproportionate assets case, saying he supports anyone who 'comes forward to uphold justice.'

"Since I welcome anyone who comes forward to uphold justice, I welcome Karnataka government's decision," he told reporters here in response to queries in this regard.

The DMK chief was among the opposition leaders in the state who had repeatedly urged Karnataka government to move the Supreme Court against Jayalalithaa's acquittal in the disproportionate assets case by the Karnataka High court on May 11.

The Karnataka cabinet, under chief minister Siddaramiah, earlier today decided to move the apex court against Jayalalithaa's acquittal.
