FIR against Forests Minister Yogeshwara

Yogeshwara has termed the charges as politically motivated.

Bangalore: An FIR has been filed against
Karnataka Forests Minister C P Yogeshwara on a complaint by
a company that he allegedly cheated it of Rs two crore in lieu
of promising to give land for construction of Bangalore-Mysore
Infrastructure Corridor Project.

The Vidhana Soudha (state secretariat) police today lodged
FIR after Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar
assured the State Assembly that he would look into the matter
and direct police to take appropriate steps in this regard.

Congress MLA D K Shivakumar had raised the issue in the
House yesterday, lambasting the government for taking
inadequate measures to file an FIR against Yogeshwara in the
case, despite the firm, Nandi Engineering Limited (NEL) filing
a complaint against him on March 27.

NEL, in its complaint, had said it had given two cheques
amounting Rs two crore to Yogeshwara after he promised to
transfer the required land for constructing the project.

The company had given Rs one crore cheque each to
Yogeshwara on Jan 20, 2005 and Jan 27, 2005, NEL said.

Yogeshwara has termed the charges as politically
motivated.
