Bangalore: As Team Anna members sit on an indefinite fast at Jantar Mantar on July 25, Freedom Park here appears set to become a venue in this part of the country to press their set of demands.

India Against Corruption- Karnataka today said it is overwhelmed by support of several educational institutions and employee associations that are committed to come together and support the cause.

The demands are: Setting up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe and report the allegations against the 15 (alleged) "corrupt ministers" within six months, handing over pending cases against all corrupt party leaders to SIT for independent investigations, and setting up fast track courts to pass judgment on allegations against 162 Lok Sabha members (against whom criminal cases are pending) within six months.

Former Karnataka Lokayukta Justice (retd) N Santosh Hegde and freedom fighter H S Doreswamy appealed to the people to take part in large numbers.

"It is our moral duty to fight this battle", Hegde said.

Doreswamy said: "...This is not the freedom we fought for. A second freedom movement is the need of the hour".

Asking more people to come forward and join the fight for immediate appointment of Lokayukta in Karnataka, he alleged it "seems like neither the ruling party nor opposition parties want to appoint an effective and honest person to the post."
