French official has no immunity: SM Krishna

New Delhi: India on Wednesday asserted that land of the law will prevail in the alleged rape case involving a French consulate official and rejected any scope of "parallel" investigation in the backdrop of reports that France was doing its own investigation into the case.

"The question of carrying out a parallel investigation does not arise. The law of the land will prevail. He (the French official) has no immunity," External Affairs Minister SM Krishna said.

He was asked about the reports that France was on it own investigating the allegations of rape of a three-year-old girl by her father and French consulate official Pascal Mazurier in Bangalore. Mazurier has been arrested by Bangalore police yesterday.

Let us hope that investigations are fair.impartial and expeditious and not like other conducted by our law enforcement which motivated by other consideration.due to activists` agenda. We all know many wives will go to any extent to gain custody of children and the marital assets, a task that gets much easier by making such allegations

Land of the law? What does it mean? There was a time we used to look at newspapers to learn english. Too bad we can`t ask our kids to do the same.
