Bengaluru: Karnataka cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer MN Vijaykumar, who was penalised with 'compulsory retirement' for "indiscipline", just three days before his tenure was to end, revealed on Sunday that he has established the existence of 'IAS mafia'.

“My point is that as an officer with lots of evidence I want to, actually I have established the existence of IAS mafia,” ANI quoted Kumar as saying.

He further said, “I will face more threats from now on.”

Taking about Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who had said that state government was not involved in the decision of sacking Vijay Kumar, who was a principal secretary-level officer in the state, said, “CM of Karnataka said they aren't involved in decision. I expect he'll ask Government of India (GoI) to reconsider their decision.”

Vijay Kumar added that his removal was a message for other honest officers to toe the line of the majority corrupt officers. "I feel it is more a punishment to the society. The message that is sent is that for honest officers, if they don't toe the line of the majority corrupt officers, this is going to be the effect," he said.

"It is a message for other honest officers that if we can disgrace a very senior officer, please think what we can do to you," he added.

MN Vijayakumar, a 1981-batch Karnataka cadre IAS officer who was last posted as Officer on Special Duty, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, (Departmental Inquiry Manual), has also been denied of his full retirement benefits.

"In Order, dated 27th April, 2015 the Government of India, Department of Personnel and Training has imposed the penalty of Compulsory Retirement on the Charged Officer, MN Vijayakumar, with the direction that the retirement benefits admissible to him shall be two-third of the admissible amount of pension prescribed in the All India Services (Death-cum-Retirement Benefits) Rules, 1958," read Karnataka government's notification.

Pursuant to the order, Vijayakumar was relieved from service with effect from the afternoon of April 27, 2015, it added.

Vijaykumar's style of functioning had reportedly upset many of his senior colleagues as he complained against alleged wrong practices within the administration. He has also faced repeated transfers.

Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee had said a few days ago that the recommendation on compulsory retirement was sent three years ago and the decision was taken by the Union government as he had been charged with indiscipline.
