Bangalore: The Karnataka High Court on Friday upheld the state government's ban on export of iron ore.
Chief Justice JS Khehar and Justice S Abdul Nazeer dismissed petitions by around 40 mine operators challenging the ban imposed by the BS Yeddyurappa government July 26.
The government justified the ban, saying it will check rampant illegal mining in the state. The two judges gave the government six months time from Thursday to put in place regulatory measures to check illegal mining.
