Bangalore: Karnataka Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda on Sunday visited former state chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, who has been admitted to hospital after he complained of chest pain.

"He is under treatment and I had discussions with the doctor. Doctor told that the diagnosis and other things would continue today and tomorrow; it requires minimum 48 hours as far as cardiological factors are concerned. It will take 48 hours to come out with the report. So, doctor will brief after the examination. At present he is not in a position to speak, he is under stress. He is under observation," Gowda told media persons here.

"He has got a health problem that is why he has come, not with any conspiracy or anything else to not stay in the jail. He was very particular to be in the jail. Because of the health problem he has come. We don't know what exactly it is. We are going there and then we will see the thing, then we will react to it," he added.

According to sources, Yeddyurappa had high blood pressure and vomited a couple of times, which prompted the jail authorities to rush him to the Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology.

Yeddyurappa, against whom an arrest warrant was issued in connection with cases regarding alleged irregularities in denotification of government lands, surrendered before the Lokayukta Court in Bangalore on Saturday.

Earlier, the special Lokayukta Court rejected his anticipatory bail and issued an arrest warrant against him.

The court also denied bail to Yeddyurappa's former ministerial colleague S N Krisnaiah Setty, but gave relief to 14 other accused including the former chief minister's sons BY Raghavendra, Lok Sabha MP and BY Vijayendra, and son-in-law Sohan Kumar.

Former Lokayukta Santosh Hegde's independent inquiry into mining graft in Karnataka, accused Yeddyurappa and other key officials for causing a loss of at least Rs 160 billion to the state exchequer between 2006 and 2010 from illegal mining and a series of abuses.

Yeddyurappa tendered his resignation on July 31 to Governor Hansraj Bhardwaj, following allegations of corruption that was later accepted.

Whatever. Yedi has been a tough man K`taka needed. He has his choice of strengths and gifted weaknesses too. Compared head to head with other leaders in state, Yedi`s strengths very easily stronger those of his oponents and weaknesses weaker than those of others.
