Bangalore: The Karnataka High Court on Thursday stayed further proceedings in the charge sheet filed against JD-S MLA Zameer Ahmed, who is one of the 13 persons accused in connection with a highway robbery case.

When criminal petitions filed by Ahmed, the complainant and two other witnesses seeking quashing of the charge sheet against him came up before Justice Keshav Narayan, he stayed further proceedings in the case.

They had also filed petition challenging a local magistrate order refusing to record their statements on an application which they had filed before stating the "complaint was concocted and they had never filed any complaint".

When these petitions came up before the court, it stayed further proceedings in the case.

On February nine, a charge sheet had been filed by the Kengeri police against 13 persons including Zameer Ahmed on the basis of a complaint lodged October 30 last year by a merchant alleging that he was robbed of Rs 50 lakh cash.
