Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court is due to hear on Thursday VHP leader Praveen Togadia's petition challenging the police commissioner's order banning his entry into the city for a week.
A single bench of the high court will hear the VHP leader's petition today.
In his petition, Togadia had claimed the order issued by city Police Commissioner MN Reddi on February 3 is arbitrary and unconstitutional.
Togadia has been banned from entering Bengaluru and participating in any public meeting/function between February 5 and February 11 in view of maintenance of law and order in the city.
He is scheduled to participate in the Virat Hindu Samajotsava to be held at the National College grounds in Basavanagudi on February 8.
The commissioner issued the ban order under section 144 (3) of CrPC noting that Togadia continues to make provocative speeches hurting religious sentiments of other communities.
