Erode: After a six-day gap, when services were stopped due to stir by outfits in Karnataka over Cauvery water release to Tamil Nadu, the state transport corporation resumed operations, but only to border areas, officials said.

They said services were operated from the city, Sathyamangalam, Coimbatore and Tirupur to Pulinjure check post, from where passengers disembarked and boarded buses to Karnataka on the other side of the border to leave for their onward destinations.

They said cars, vans and other vehicles including lorries with Karnataka and Kerala registration numbers were allowed to enter Karnataka, while vehicles from that state were allowed in

Bus, lorry, van and taxi services had remained suspended for the past six days due to the agitation, due to which those wanting to go to Mysore, Chamrajnagar and Mandaya from Erode district had to go via Thimbam, Thalamalai to reach Karnataka.

A strong police contingent has been posted at Punlinjure check post area to avert any untoward incident.
