Karnataka woman alleges she was beaten up by police

A woman has alleged that she was stripped and beaten up by police on charge of committing a theft at Chapparahalli in Bellary district.

Bellary (KTK): A woman has alleged that she was stripped and beaten up by police on charge of committing a theft at Chapparahalli in Bellary district.

The 36-year-old woman said she was taken by three police personnel, including two women, to the police station every day for three days and subjected to a cruel treatment.

In a complaint with Bellary district Superintendent of Police C S Rathod, she alleged that she was intimidated to confess that she had committed the theft.

Rathod assured her that he would look into the complaint and take action against the guilty.

The woman was admitted to a hospital in Bellary, police said.
