Bangalore: The Lokayukta court on Monday extended the judicial custody of former Karnataka minister Katta Subramanya Naidu, his corporator son Jagadish and MD of Itasca software firm S V Srinivas, to October 26.

The trio were arrested and remanded to judicial custody on August 8 in connection with their alleged involvement in the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board scam.

Naidu was subsequently admitted to the state-run Victoria Hospital for problems in his spine.

On September 17, Resident Medical Officer of the hospital submitted a letter to the court stating that it was not advisable for the former minister, who was ailing from spinal problem since long, "to undergo cervical discectomy" at this stage.

He also pointed out that the former minister was also suffering from lymph node cancer for which he had to undergo two surgeries in 2004 and 2008, respectively.

The RMO pointed out that Naidu had been given stem cell treatment in London.

At this, the court sought to know the facilities available in Kidwai Institute of Oncology here as Victoria does not have an oncology department and asked the RMO to inform the court about it.

Meanwhile, the court posted to September 24 hearing of the bail applications filed by the three accused.
