Bangalore: The Karnataka High Court on Friday directed Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) to issue a corrigendum for the advertisements calling for applications for the posts of first division and second division assistants to permit visually challenged also to apply for posts.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice JS Khehar and Justice AS Bopanna sought to know from the goverment as to why it had not identified the said posts for visually challenged while the Central goverment had identified these positions for the visually challenged.

The bench further directed the state government to constitute an expert committee within two weeks to look into the matter and also directed that the committee should submit its report to the court within eight weeks.

The National Federation of the Blind in a PIL sought to know as to why the visually challenged had been excluded from applying to the said posts.
