Bangalore: Karnataka Forest Minister C P Yogeshwar has denied irregularities in the Mega City project promoted by him, after Union Corporate Affairs Minister M Veerappa Moily asserted action would be taken against him.
Speaking to reporters here, Yogeshwar alleged that JD-S leader H D Kumaraswamy has been levelling allegations against him to taint his image. He said about 15 years ago land was purchased for the Mega City project and the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) acquired a part of the land.
The acquisition of land by KIADB has been challenged in a court, he said and added that there was no dispute between the project promoter agency and those invested in it. Of the 3500 investors, 1650 have already been given sites, he said. "I am only one of the Directors of the firm", he said.
Moily had said the Corporate Affairs Ministry has submitted a report on the Mega City project irregularities and action would be taken by the government.
In another development, Governor H R Bhardwaj has said he had no information about the Mega City project and would act if any one complained about it, while speaking to the press on the sidelines of a function.
