Bangalore: Former Karnataka Housing Minister
Katta Subramanya Naidu on Saturday appeared in a special Lokayukta
court here in connection with a land scam case against him.

He is the main accused in the case relating to alleged
irregularities in allotment of Karnataka Industrial Area
Development Board (KIADB) land.
Naidu, who had quit the Yeddyurappa Ministry in December
last year after the Lokayukta police filed the case, was on
July 19 directed by Special Judge Sudhidhra Rao to be present
in the court.

Naidu had earlier in an application moved through his
counsel sought exemption from personal appearance saying he
was on a foreign tour.

The Judge today adjourned the hearing of the bail petitions
filed Katta Jagadish, city Corporator and son of Naidu, and
five other accused in the case to July 26.

When the matter came up for hearing, Special Public
Prosecutor J S Pramod Chandra objected to granting them bail.
However, since the accused had not been furnished with
copies of the chargesheet running into 18,000 pages, they
sought copies of it and time to go through the voluminous
document to put forth their arguments.

After the Lokayukta police furnished copies of the
chargesheet to the accused as directed by him, the Judge
adjourned the case to July 26.

The Lokyukta police had filed the chargesheet against all
the nine accused in the case on July 8.
