Lawyers tell SC collegium not to elevate Dinakaran
New Delhi: Bar Association of India, led by
eminent jurist Fali S Nariman, on Saturday appealed to the Supreme
Court Collegium to desist from elevating Karnataka High Court
Chief Justice P D Dinakaran to the apex court to "save the
credibility of the judiciary".
In a resolution adopted at its meeting, the association
said it was not the question whether charges against Justice
Dinakaran were correct or not, but whether appointment of such
a persons whose integrity was "widely perceived to be
doubtful" would affect the faith of common man in the judicial

However, it is learnt that the Indian Embassy has
raised the issue with US officials concerned. It is believed
that the White House is also looking into the episode.
