Bangalore: Karnataka Congress on Friday flayed
ruling BJP`s decision to seek clarifications on the Lokayukta
report over illegal mining, a step it described as an attempt
to "save some persons".
"Section 13 of the Lokayukta Act is very clear. Either the
government can accept the report or reject it. In this case,
the Governor has already accepted the report and initiated
action against the then chief minister", KPCC President G
Parameshwara told a press conference here.
He demanded the guilty be punished.
Parameshwara hit out at the government "apathy" towards
taking up relief work in 84 drought-hit talukas.
"The government has kept quiet after declaring 84 talukas
drought-hit. It has not asked the district administration to
take up programmes like providing employment to labourers,
drinking water and fodder to animals. No memorandum has so far
been submitted to the Centre seeking aid", Parameshwara
He urged the government to convene an Assembly session to
debate various issues facing the state, including power crisis
