Naxalite surrenders in Chikmagalur

Chikmagalur: A Naxalite, against whom a
case is pending, surrendered before the district
administration here Wednesday.

Thirty-year-old Venkatesh, who hails from Hagalaganchi
village in Sringeri taluk, surrendered before the District
Deputy Commissioner Chennappa Gowda and Superintendent of
Police Vikas Kumar.

Gowda said of the three cases, Venkatesh faced, he had
been acquitted in two and one relating to procuring and
supplying gelatine was pending before a court.

The government will be paying him Rs one lakh towards the
surrender and help him get Rs one lakh loan to start a new
life, he said.

Gowda said Venkatesh has sought two acres and it has been
forwarded to the government for approval.
