Bangalore: Self-styled godman Nithyananda, who
underwent a minor surgery for a fracture, was discharged
from hospital this morning.
Nithyananda, who sustained a fracture in the right forearm
after he fell off his horse during a routine horse-riding
exercise, was admitted to the Manipal Hospital on June 14, a
release said.
The accident occurred when devotees who had gathered at the
ashram for a meditation programme began cheering when they saw
Nithyananda ride past on his horse. Hearing the noise, the
animal panicked and bucked, resulting in the fall.
Starting tomorrow, Nithyananda will resume his daily
engagements, the release said.
Nithyananda landed in controversy in March last year after
a local TV channel aired a purported video footage showing him
in a compromising position with an actress.
He was arrested in Solan district in Himachal Pradesh in
April and granted conditional bail in June.
Tamil Nadu police had registered cases including rape
against Nithyananda before they transferred them to their
counterparts in Karnataka which handed over the probe to CID.
