Karunakara Reddy Tuesday said he will take legal action against
Governor H R Bhardwaj if indeed he had given a public
statement that Reddy was involved in illegal mining
"If indeed the Governor has publicly made such a
statement, we will initiate legal action," Reddy said when
reporters sought his reaction on Bhardwaj asking Chief
Minister B S Yeddyurappa to take action against two of his
ministers, in the light of allegations levelled against them
of involvement in illegal mining in Bellary.
Without taking their names, Bhardwaj, who was speaking to
reporters after a meeting with President Pratibha Patil in New
Delhi, also questioned the continuance of Tourism Minister G
Janardhana Reddy and Karunakara Reddy in the government in the
face of corruption charges against them.
Karunakara Reddy sarcastically added: "People know
whether the Governor is functioning within the framework of
Janardhana Reddy declined to comment, saying he would
first like to know exactly what the Governor had said.
Talking to the media after a meeting of BJP legislators,
the party`s state unit president KS Eshwarappa wondered if
the Governor was getting carried away by the "misinformation"
spread by the Congress and JD-S.
"The Governor should not get carried way by the
misinformation of Congress and JD-S," he said.
