Bangalore: A three-member US Congress delegation on Saturday called on Karnataka Governor HR Bhardwaj and Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar.

"The US Delegation met the Governor at the Raj Bhavan and interacted with him for 90 minutes discussing about the laws of both the countries," BJP MP Janardhana Swamy, who is coordinating the delegation`s visit, told a news agency here.

The delegation, comprising political and business persons, called on Shettar and later visited some parts of the city and met Shettar over dinner, he said.

The delegation`s visit and also their meeting with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has sparked a controversy over the funding of their visit, with Congress and BJP trading charges against each other.

The three US Congress members, who spoke for an American visa for Modi, have rejected allegations questioning the legitimacy of their trip.

The US Delegation included Cynthia Lummis (Republican Congresswoman from Wyoming) and Cathy M Rodgers (Republican Congresswoman from Washington).
