Thiruvananthapuram: Congress in Kerala on Thursday
said a woman party worker was allegedly sprinkled with urine
by LDF workers during voting in the Harippad Assembly segment.
Police said a case had been registered based on the
complaint lodged by the woman.
Congress leaders alleged that a group of LDF workers brought
urine in a bottle and sprinkled the content on the local
Mahila Congress activist near Mannarassala school in the
constituency during polling yesterday.
Congress workers staged a protest in Harippad, where KPCC
President Ramesh Chennithala is the party candidate, accusing
the police of dragging action against culprits.
UDF convener P P Thankachan alleged in a statement that
CPI(M) workers were behind this "heinous attack and insult
on the woman", which was quite unbecoming of a civilised and
cultured society.
Unleashing this kind of inhuman attack on political rivals
amounted to a challenge to democracy, he said.
