Idukki: A suspected aide of Indian Mujahideen (IM) operatives Waqas Ahamed and Tehseen Akthar was arrested at Munnar in Kerala's Idukki district on Friday.

According to police, Shamil Safikula had allegedly arranged stay for Waqas and Akthar when they came to Munnar a few months before their arrest from Delhi earlier this year. Shamil, who hails from Bihar, had been absconding since the arrest of the duo.

He had returned to Munnar last night and was picked up by police on getting a tip-off.

Police and intelligence agencies had been on the look out for him ever since the arrest of Waqas and Akthar.

Shamil had come to Munnar, a hill station and a major tourist centre, for working in a hotel a few years back.

When Waqas and Akthar came to Munnar, Shamil arranged a cottage for their stay, police said.

Shamil is being interrogated by police.
