Kannur: BJP in Kerala today demanded removal
of Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan accusing him of trying
to "shield" senior police official Tomin J Thachankary,
suspended recently for visiting UAE "flouting" service rules.

Referring to the government`s affidavit challenging the
order of Central Administrative Tribunal re-instating
Thachankary, BJP State President V Muralidharan said
Balakrishnan should clarify as to why Thachankary, accused of
serious charges, was posted as IGP (North).

Speaking to reporters at the end of BJP`s three-day state
level conclave here, he said his party would help like-minded
organisations if they sought its support in the upcoming local
body polls.

Ruling out possibility of forging alliance with any other
political party, he said BJP would evolve its strategy for the
local body polls later this month.
