Centre may re-investigate Thanchankary case

Centre said it would conduct a reinvestigation, if needed, into the controversy relating to a Kerala-based IPS officer.

Kozhikode: Centre on Sunday said it would conduct
a reinvestigation, if needed, into the controversy relating to
a Kerala-based IPS officer, who was suspended from service by
then LDF government in April last for making a trip aboard
without its consent.

Union Minister of State for Home Mullappally Ramachandran
told reporters here that the Home ministry had received the
report from National Investigation Agency which had conducted
the probe into the matter.

NIA had probed alleged violation of service rules by
Thachankary in undertaking a trip to Qatar and allegations
that he met fundamentalist outfits during the visit.
The officer was, however, reinstated in service in
November last on the ground that NIA had cleared him of the
allegations. He was posted as the Managing Director of State
Cooperative Marketing Federation Limited.
