Coast guard official asked to surrender by July 15

A Coast Guard official, against whom his wife has levelled charges of sexual abuse of their daughter, has been directed by the Kerala High Court to surrender before the investigating officer by Monday.

Kochi: A Coast Guard official, against whom his wife has levelled charges of sexual abuse of their daughter, has been directed by the Kerala High Court to surrender before the investigating officer by Monday.

Justice P Bhavadasan issued the direction while dismissing the anticipatory bail plea of the official Arun Kumar, hailing from Kollam, on Tuesday.
A case was registered against Kumar at the Anchal police station in Kollam following a complaint from his wife who alleged that their daughter had been sexually abused on April 9 and 10, 2011.

Denying the allegation, the petitioner submitted that he was living apart from his wife since April 20, 2011 due to differences of opinion following which both had filed cases against each other, including the latest of sexual abuse of the daughter.
He said during the two days of the alleged incident, he was in Tuticorin.

Arun Kumar is presently posted at the Naval base in Kochi.

The incident comes close on the heels of a case filed by an estranged wife of a naval officer alleging that she had been sexually abused by senior officials and colleagues of her husband. The naval official has also approached the court for anticipatory bail.
