Thiruvananthapuram: The fight against corruption and communalism would be the plank of Left parties in the coming elections to five state assemblies, RSP general
secretary TJ Chandrachoodan said on Saturday.

Addressing a meet-the-press programme here, he said the polls were crucial to the Left movement in the country.

He alleged that the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre was protecting the corrupt forces in the country. "The UPA is ready to stoop to any level to shield the corrupt. When caught, they shirk responsibility by apologising," he said.

While Tamil Nadu Chief Minster M Karunanidhi and Union Home Minister were holding seat talks at DMK headquarters yesterday, CBI was questioning the former`s daughter MP Kanimozhi in connection with the 2G spectrum scam in the same building, exposing the Congress stand on corruption, he said.

He said a section of the media in Kerala was playing the Opposition`s role by projecting the minor faults of the ruling LDF and hiding negative news items about the UDF.

On the question of Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan leading the LDF again, he said it was upto the CPI-M to decide its leader. The RSP was not fully satisfied with the number of seats allotted to it by the LDF leadership, he said.
