Kozhikode: BJP Kerala unit president V Muraleedharan on Monday said a preliminary study showed that compared to the last Assembly Elections, BJP`s vote had increased in the just concluded state Assembly polls.
The party had finished second in three constituencies and bagged over 10,000 votes in 20 constituencies, he said.
On the three seats of Manjeswaram, Kasargod and Nemam in Thiruvananthapuram district, where BJP expected to spring a surprise, he alleged that LDF had cast their votes in favour of the UDF candidates at Manjeswaram and Kasargod, while at Nemam, UDF had cast their votes for the LDF candidate.
He appealed to the Congress, which is heading the UDF, to keep the education portfolio with them, when the ministry is formed.
Speaking to reporters here, Muraleedharan said Congress being the national party, should be prepared to take over the education portfolio.
In this connection, Congress should follow the model of previous LDF government, wherein CPI(M) had held the education portfolio.
"However, BJP does not agree with the educational policies pursued by the LDF government," he added.
