CPI leader Thengamam Balakrishnan passes away

Kollam (Ker): Thengamam Balakrishnan, senior CPI leader and eminent journalist, passed away at his residence here today, party sources said.

He was 90 and had been keeping indifferent health for some time. He is survived by wife and two children.

A former MLA, Balakrishnan he was a member of the CPI's state committee.

A gifted writer, orator and organizer, he edited the party organ 'Jajaugom' for several years.

Balakrishnan had played a vital role in nurturing party publications in Malayalam.

He was elected to the Kerala Assembly from Adoor in 1970.

Later, he also served as member of the state Public Service Commission.
