Thalasery: A case has been registered against former Minister and CPI(M) Secretariat Member, T Sivadas Menon, for making certain allegedly inciting remarks against a police officer.

Speaking at a function, Menon had reportedly said that Kozhikode Assistant Commissioner of Police, Radhakrishna Pillai, who had fired at SFI students during a protest recently, could be "beaten up" even if he was in police uniform.

Menon is the second CPI(M) leader against whom a case has been registered for making such remarks against Pillai, the first being CPI(M) state committee member M V Jayarajan.

Cases were registered against Jayarajan for allegedly exhorting SFI activists to attack Pillai when seen in civilian dress.

Jayarajan had reportedly made the remarks while speaking at a protest meeting organised by SFI, CPI-M's student wing two days ago.

"If the police officer was not in uniform, he is an ordinary person like us," Jayarajan had said.

The ACP had opened fire at SFI activists protesting against "illegal" admission of a student in Kozhikode Government Engineering College.
