CPI(M) leader seeks privilege proceedings against CM

CPI(M) Deputy Leader in Kerala Assembly, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan sought privilege proceedings against CM Oommen Chandy for announcing the government`s 100-day programme outside the assembly while the House was in session.

Thiruvanathapuram: CPI(M) Deputy Leader in
Kerala Assembly, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on Saturday sought
privilege proceedings against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy
for announcing the government`s 100-day programme outside
the assembly while the House was in session.

In his notice to Speaker G Karthikeyan seeking proceedings
against Chandy, Balakrishnan held that the Chief Minister`s
action amounted to breach of privilege under Rule 154 of the
House.
He said when the House adjourned after election of Speaker
on Thursday, Karthikeyan did not say that the assembly was
adjourning `sine die.` This would mean, the House was still
in session. The Speaker had also said that the House would
meet again later this month, Balakrishnan said.
Chandy announced the 100-day action plan as the newly
installed Government`s pilot programme on June 2 at a
function here.
