DYFI demands quota for economically backard among FC`s

CPI-M`s youth wing DYFI on Sunday demanded reservation for poorer sections among Forward Communities (FCs) in jobs and educational institutions.

Thiruvananthapuram: CPI-M`s youth wing DYFI
on Sunday demanded reservation for poorer sections among Forward
Communities (FCs) in jobs and educational institutions.

A resolution adopted by the ongoing DYFI state meet
demanded that the Centre initiate steps for a constitutional
amendment in this regard, without upsetting the existing
reservation for Dalits and Backward Communities.

While depressed classes in India were still facing problems,
it was also a social reality that poorer sections among the
forward communities often failed to get opportunities, DYFI
state president M P Rajesh, MP and secretary T V Rajesh,told a
press meet today.

It was in recognition of this reality that the LDF
Government in Kerala provided for certain percentage of quota
for FCs in its legislation concerning admission to self
financing colleges, they said.

The youth outfit also wanted appointments in jobs in quasi
government institutions and those getting grants from the
government, including aided schools, to be entrusted to the
Public Service Commission.

In another resolution, it condemned the attack on Indians
in Australia.
