Kerala Finance Minister K M Mani today said journalists and non-journalists employed by newspaper establishments were the "two hands of the Fourth Estate" and should work together.

Kottayam: Kerala Finance Minister K M Mani today said journalists and non-journalists employed by newspaper establishments were the "two hands of the Fourth Estate" and should work together.

Releasing the logo of the forthcoming state meeting of Kerala Newspaper Employees Federation here, Mani said non-journalists have equal importance like journalists in the organisation.
"Both are two sides of the same coin," he said, and extended wholehearted support and cooperation in achieving the demands of the Federation.

KNEF President K N Lathanathan, who submitted a memorandum to the minister, urged interference of the government for setting up a comprehensive welfare fund for the employees.

He demanded for unification in the pension scheme for journalists and non-journalists.

The 15th two-day state meeting of the Federation will begin here on March 10.
