Kerala CM Oommen Chandy ordered a probe into a media report that the state police had drawn up a plan to hack the e-mail of some Muslim leaders.

A prominent Malayalam daily has reported that the SB-CID,
the intelligence wing of the state police, had drawn up a list
of 258 persons from the community for hacking, which included
leaders of the Indian Union Muslim League, the second largest
partner in the ruling Congress-led UDF.

The report claimed that the police had sought to obtain
from the service providers the password and log-in details of
the persons in the list.

Alleging that it was an attempt at religious profiling,
the report said, apart from political figures, the list also
included mediapersons, professionals and students from the
minority community.
