Bangalore: Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today slammed the economic policies of globalisation and alleged that it promoted "use and throw" labour hiring culture in industries and IT sector.

Speaking after inaugurating 'EMS Bhavan' here, he noted that Bangalore had a large number of industrial labourers and IT employees, and said "the economic policies of globalisation will have a greater influence here."

"The new economic policies had cultivated a use and throw culture, instead of a permanency in job and incentives", he said.

"Hope, by campaigning against the newer kind of exploitations, the influence and scope of the leftist progressive movements may be strengthened", Achuthanandan said.

The EMS Bhavan, declared open on the 101st birth anniversary of Kerala's first Communist Chief Minister, late E M S Namboodiripad, was built by A K Gopalan Memorial Social Education Trust.

Achuthanandan said he was glad that the trust would be beginning short-term courses to teach about the struggles of agriculture labourers and the downtrodden.

The function was attended, among others, by former Prime Minister and JDS chief H D Deve Gowda.
