Thiruvananthapuram: Ahead of the crucial seat
sharing talks between Congress and Kerala Congress (M), one of
the key partner in UDF, for the April 13 Assembly elections,
the Kerala Congress (M) Wednesday said their demand for 22 seats
was not undeserving.
Considering the strength of KC-M and merger of Kerala
Congress factions led by P J Joseph and P C George, party`s
demand for 22 seats was not at all unjustifiable, KC-M leader
K M Mani told a meet the press programme organised by Kesari
Memiral Journalist Trust here.
The party contested 18 seats--eleven by KC-M, six by Joseph
and one by George factions respectively--during 2006 polls,
he pointed out. Besides that, the party also wanted four seats
in Malabar region where the party had gained strength, he
said.
Expressing confidence that partners in UDF would be able to
settle the seat sharing issue amicably, Mani said UDF has the
system for adjustments.
Continuing tirade against the five-year rule of LDF in the
state, Mani said LDF took the state`s development back to 50
years.
Indifference to the needs of the people, corruption and
complete breakdown of administration due to lack of
co-ordination between Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan and his
cabinet colleagues were the hallmark of LDF rule, he said.
