Kerala: Five injured in cracker blast at temple

5 persons were on Sunday injured when some firecrackers kept at a temporary shed near Vellayani Devi temple accidentally caught fire and exploded.

Thiruvananthapuram: Five persons were on Sunday
injured, two of them seriously, when some firecrackers kept at
a temporary shed near Vellayani Devi temple here accidentally
caught fire and exploded, police said.

The firecrackers were kept in the shed in connection with
`Pongala` festival at the temple. `Vedi Vazhipadu (lighting of
firecrackers)` is one of the offerings of devotees at the
temple.
