Kerala govt forms company to promote tourism festivals

With a view to promote tourism along with business, Kerala government today decided to form a company called Kerala Tourism Trade Promotion Organisation, State Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said here.

Thiruvananthapuram: With a view to promote
tourism along with business, Kerala government today decided to form a company called Kerala Tourism Trade Promotion Organisation, State Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said
here.

The new company would conduct tourism fairs similar to
Grand Kerala Shopping Festival, Achuthanandan told reporters
after a cabinet meeting.
Presently Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF) was being
organised by tourism department with the active participation
of trade and business community in the state. The fourth
edition of GKSF would be held next month.

On other cabinet decision, he said it decided to recommend
to governor to promulgate an ordinance to set up Welfare Fund
for the workers and artists in Televisions, DTH, Cable
sectors.
Cabinet also recommended governor to promulgate an ordinance
to constitute Kerala Fisheries University in the state, he
said.

Government also entrusted state run Kerala Electrical and
Allied Engineering Agency to construct 30 hanging bridges
connecting river banks, where local students use country boats
to cross the river, Achuthanandan.
