Kerala police have initiated a probe into the forged letters send in the name of State Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan and Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan to Union Home Ministry.

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala police have initiated
a probe into the forged letters send in the name of State
Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan and Home Minister Kodiyeri
Balakrishnan to Union Home Ministry.

Government has also written to Home Minister P Chidambram
stating that the letters, regarding selection of IPS officers,
were baseless and had also requested the Centre to order a
probe into the origin of letters, State Chief Minister V S
Achuthanandan told reporters after a cabinet meeting.

State Director General of Police has also been directed to
investigate about the letters received by Home Ministry
recently, Achuthanandan said to a question.

Meanwhile, State Home Secretary K Jayakumar has been
asked to look into the forgery by Home Minister, sources said.

It was reported that two letters in the name of Chief
Minister and Home Minister requested Home Minister Chidmbaram
not to consider any candidates from the list of
superintendents of police to the posts of IPS as there was no
vacancy in the state.

The letter in the name of Home Minister has the signature
and seal of the Minister, sources said.
