Kochi: CBI Additional SP found dead
A CBI officer, who was investigating a custodial death case in which several cops were accused, allegedly committed suicide at his house at Njarackkal in Ernakulam district.
Kochi: A CBI officer, who was investigating a
custodial death case in which several cops were accused,
allegedly committed suicide at his house at Njarackkal in
Ernakulam district on Thursday.
The body of Additional SP, P G Haridutt, was found hanging
in his house at around 5 PM.
CBI sources said that the officer was on leave since
the past few days.
Haridutt was probing the case of custodial death of
Sampath, who was arrested in connection with the murder of
Sheela -- wife a businessman at Palakkad -- and allegedly
tortured in custody.
There are at least 30 accused in the custodial death case,
including DIG Vijay Sakhre, former Palakkad SP and ADGP
Mohammed Yasin. Seven policemen have so far been arrested.
Sheela was killed on March 23, 2010. Sampath, who was
named as the first accused in the case, was arrested within a
couple of days of the murder.
He was questioned and allegedly died following "intense
torture" on Mar 29, 2010.
Sampath`s brother had filed a petition in the Kerala High
