Palakkad: Stepping up its attack on the LDF
government over the tribal land grab scam at Attappady,
Congress-led UDF today said the state Cabinet`s decision to
form a high power panel to probe the issue was a "ruse to
cover up the role of higher ups."
The government had overlooked the report of the district
collector, which had found that nearly 150 acres of Tribal and
forest land had been grabbed and transferred to a private
wind energy farm by forging documents with the collusion
of "higher-ups with political connections", UDF Convener P P
Thankachan told reporters here.
The constitution of the panel, headed by Chief Secretary
and comprising secretaries of departments concerned, was
meant to cover up the roles of people with high political
connections in the scam, Thankachan alleged.
He said the UDF would step up the agitation, demanding
retrieval of the alienated land. As part of this, a protest
march would be organised from Kottathara to Attppadi.
The UDF has been highlighting the issue, dubbing it as the
biggest land scam in the state.
