Lankan team in Kerala to study dairy projects

A team of veterinarians and animal husbandry officials from Sri Lanka is in Kerala on a five-day visit to study dairy development in the state.

Thiruvananthapuram: A team of veterinarians
and animal husbandry officials from Sri Lanka is in Kerala on
a five-day visit to study dairy development in the state.

The group, led by Hiteki Saito, Chief Advisor on Dairy
Management in Sri Lanka, called on Agriculture Minister K P
Mohan on Tuesday before starting a tour of major dairies in the
state.

The trip is part of the island nation`s efforts to boost
its dairy projects by learning the experiences of areas of
similar climatic and environmental background, officials in
the Animal Husbandry department said.

The facilities to be visited by the team includes the
high-tech dairy at Kulathupuzha under the state Livestock
Development Board.

The team would interact with dairy farmers, board members
of milk Co-operatives and veterinary doctors and livestock
experts.
