Kozhikode: CPI(M) State Secretariat member and former minister, Elamaram Kareem, on Sunday alleged that a situation was prevailing here wherein any news could be published in newspapers as per the wishes of police officials.
Speaking to mediapersons here, Kareem said his party was not against the media. But, the media should verify the credibility of the news before publishing it, he said.
Police are trying to create false evidence to implicate party leaders in the murder of marxist rebel T P Chandrasekharan, he charged.
Kareem refuted claims that there was a problem in the party following the Chandrasekharan murder.
