Kochi: The National Investigation Agency,
probing the case relating to the chopping off the hand of a
college lecturer in Kerala July last year has arrested one
more accused in the case.
Naushad, arrested from nearby Aluva yesterday, was
produced before CBI Special Judge S Vijay Kumar on Monday and
remanded to five days NIA custody.
This is the first arrest after the NIA began probing the
case. Naushad has been accused of aiding the main accused in
NIA, which has already filed chargesheet in the case, had
taken over the investigation from local police which had
listed 54 accused in the case of which 27 were chargesheeted
and 27 others are absconding.
TJ Joseph, a former head of the Malayalam department of
Newman College, Thodupuhza, was brutally attacked on July 4
last year by radical outfit activists of Popular Front of
India (PFI)allegedly for setting a question paper having
references to Prophet Mohammed.
