Not to allow communal organisations to enter politics: CPI

Kottayam: Stating that development should take place from grass root level, CPI central secretariat member C K Chandrappan on Monday said Left Democratic Front government has implemented a policy which was found successful for the past five years.
Speaking to presspersons here, Chandrappan said Kerala was only state which fulfilled the dream of father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi`s grama swaraj Panahcyat Raj rule was given importance by late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. Still many states were not implemented the schemes of Panchayat Raj, he said.
He said pirme minister Manmohan Singh has handed over an award to minister for local self government and rural development Paloli Mohammed Kutty last year for the best
performance by local body institutions with participation of people. "The state is on the verge of achieving national award for maintaining complete cleanliness", the leader said.
To a question, he said communal organisations should not be allowed to enter politics. The support extended to some candidates in the elections in all seasons SNDP general
secretary Vellapally Natesan in Alappuzha failed miserably.
Chandrappan said the party never allowed any candidate from any communal organisations to contest the elections, and was against using pastoral letter for political purpose.
