NRI doctor arrested in rape case

Kochi: An NRI doctor, an accused in the case
relating to the alleged rape of a minor girl by 100 odd men
over a period of time, was arrested here on Monday on his arrival
from Damam.

Dr Hary Abdul Assis of Alapuzha had left for Damam soon
after the case came to light.

He had also approached the Supreme Court for anticipatory
bail which was turned down.

A lookout notice had been issued by the crime branch
police, investigating the case, against Assis, 90th accused
in the case.

The case relates to the rape of the girl hailing from
nearby Paravur by over 100 persons, including her own father.

A PWD contractor from Tamil Nadu and a retired Naval official
are among those arrested in the case.
