`Old age home for cows` in Kerala`s Thrissur district soon

The aged and unwell cows may soon have an “old age home” in Kerala`s Thrissur`s district.

Zee Media Bureau Thrissur: The aged and unwell cows may soon find an “old age home” in Kerala`s Thrissur`s district. The Guruvayur Devaswom board, which manages the Sri Krishna Temple here, is planning to convert a cattle-rearing centre into an `old age home` for the cows and bulls, according to a newspaper report. The plan to set up an “old age home” is one of the several measures being taken after a PIL stating gross neglect of cattle at the Devaswom`s facility was filed in the Kerala High Court. The court is also monitoring the situation there after the PIL was filed. The proposed centre is being set up to act as an `old age home` for the unwell cows who will be given proper medical aid and fodder, the report stated. The cows are considered as holy animals in the Hindu religion. Due to this reason, people don`t slaughter them and tend to abandon the ageing cattle, causing fatalities every month.
